We are now booking ocean striper trips. The stripers have shown up off Oregon Inlet in good numbers so lets go get some. 1/2 day trips are $450, and full day trips are $950.

Puppy Drum

The surf and pier fishing has been very good. A ton of bluefish along with some nice puppy drum have been caught fishing with fresh mullet. This is a picture of Patrick who works at the Kitty Hawk Pier with a nice puppy drum he caught yesterday.

LATE SUMMER FISHING

The fishing is right on schedule this year. Late summer species have arrived in force. Inshore charters have been very consistent with spanish mackerel and bluefish, also the tackle busting albacore have shown up. Surf fishing has been good for spot croker and sea mullets. Offshore the billfish have shown up in force, many boats have been hooking multiple fish every day. Yesterday the Hoo Dini with Capt. Jay Watson caught a limit of tilefish, fifteen dolphin and two sailfish.

IT IS COBIA TIME

I went on a fun trip with our friend Mike on the Reel Teasher yesterday and slammed the cobia. What a day when you can take four boys under the age of ten out and catch eleven cobia. The boys caught nine of the eleven. My wife Amy caught her first citation, a 67 pounder. The Reel Teasher is one of the boats I worked on when I was a mate, It was called the Finatic back then. The thing that made this trip extra special is that my old captain Brian Davenport was on board. It was like old times. Those of you that have fished for cobia with Brian and myself know how excited we get about them, hats off to Mike for dealing with our antics. It felt so good to be in the tower again after sitting in this store for three years. The Fine Line with captain Caine also had a good catch of cobia yesterday. Offshore fishing was good yesterday as well. There were a lot of dolphin and yellowfin tuna caught. There were also a few blue marlin caught. Pier fishing was good up and down the beach with a lot of spanish mackerel and bluefish caught. Surf fishing produced a fair number of bottom fish.

Great Offshore Fishing

Offshore fishing has been great. Dolphin have been thick, and big. Tuna are still around in good numbers. Some really nice catches are hitting the docks. Hoo Dini had a mixed catch of nice gaffer dolphin, tuna, tilefish and has had mako sharks the past 2 trips.

Offshore: Limits of Gaffer sized dolphin, some tuna and mako sharks

Inshore: Spanish mackerel, and bluefish

Pier and surf: Bluefish, sea mullet, spot, and croker

STRIPERS ARE HERE!!!!!!!!!!

The stripers have shown up on the Outer Banks.Â We are catching fish from Duck all the way to Avon.Â The fish are also in the inlet.Â With the early cold spell that we have had, and the forcasted cold winter ahead, I anticipate a very good striper season on the Outer Banks.Â No need to go to Virginia Beach this year.Â Tuna fishing has also been good offshore with limits of 30 to 50 pound yellowfin tuna being brought back to the dock.Â With the price of fuel dropping we have lowered or offshore price to $1450 on the Hoo Dini.Â Half day striper trips are $475,Â 3/4 day trips are $725, and full day trips are $850.Â Striper dates are beginning to fill up so you may want to book now to insure that you get in the meet.

Limit Of Tuna

The Sea Robin came to the dock yesterday with a limit of yellowfin tuna. Tuna fishing is really starting to get good and we should have good fishing through the rest of the fall. Our offshore price is still $1550 so give us a call to get in on some of this great action. Surf fishing in Duck continues to be great with plenty of drum, trout, and blues being caught.

Well it is time to start talking about winter time striper trips. As most of you know, the striper fishing out of Oregon Inlet over the past two winters has not been up to par. There were some fish around, but nothing like it used to be. The main body of fish have been staying off Virginia Beach due to the unusually warm winters we have had. With this in mind we have decided to have a boat wear the fish are. This winter we will be operating two boats out of Rudy Inlet in Virginia Beach, and three boats out of Oregon Inlet.
